In 2017, three former Indiana University field hockey players had the idea of creating the first field hockey club in Indiana. Because of the great experience they had growing up while playing field hockey and all of the life lessons and opportunities the sport had afforded this group, they set out to create a club that could do the same for young Hoosier children. Crossroads Field Hockey Club was born.
In the fall of 2018, league president Gaby McKain reached out to Mudsock Youth Athletics Executive Director, Scott Spillman about the possibility of renting facilities in Fishers and being able to teach field hockey to the Fishers community. Mudsock Youth Athletics' commitment to providing new sports opportunities and growing more "niche" sports was a great fit.
Crossroads Field Hockey Club was granted associate membership as part of the Mudsock Youth Athletics family. After a successful first season, the field hockey league was granted full membership and Mudsock Field Hockey became the first recreational, youth field hockey league in the state of Indiana.
